There wasn't a lullaby track playing in the background...
Well, actually there truly was really relaxing instrumental playing when I walked in...I heard it for a brief moment and then I was bombarded with questions, statements of fact, more questions, and told that we were making a birthday cake for Big Sister. But you know what? I'm being 100% honest with you when I say that I wouldn't have it any other way. I LOVE that when I walked in the door, the kids were so excited to see me and talk to me. I felt so welcome and at home with this family. I adore photographing big families.

There was an indoor playground. seriously.
They had the best playroom ever and it's no wonder when I asked them where their favorite place was in the home- it was the indoor playground. Epic!
But no, what I'm getting at was that it wasn't a quiet, cozy newborn session- and that's totally okay. It was filled with giggles and feet running on the floor and a chorus of questions. It was everything.
Baby number five made his debut right at home, joining a family that already knew how to fold a new soul into the rhythm of daily life. Between making the batter for Big Sister's birthday cake and climbing up, down, and sideways through their indoor jungle gym- the kids still found time to sneak kisses and cuddles with their brand-new brother.

this session was the kind of session that
I seem to always be chasing with my camera. It's layered and multidimensional. It feels like life. It feels like home. It feels like love.
Here's a few more glimpses into their morning- a little mayhem and a little magic- and that's just the way I like it... I can't wait to deliver this gallery to them.
