Mornings are a powerful part of our day

Mornings have a way of setting the tone for the rest of the day, don't they? Chaotic morning, usually a chaotic day. A good relaxing morning? Usually a good day. Wake up ambitious and checking things off the to do list bright and early? Usually a pretty productive day.

Mornings have a really powerful way of being the foundation of our day. It sets our rhythm, our tone.

The years of crafting specific routines and rituals impact us for the rest of our lives. These little habits truly impact every aspect of our lives.

So...my question to you is this:

What do your mornings look like?

My next question is this:

Why would capturing a morning be meaningful to you?

Don't be fooled...

Don't you dare be fooled by everyone, everywhere (seemingly) telling you that you aren't enough, your house isn't enough, you're not aesthetic enough. your playtime with your kids isn't good enough, etc etc I could honestly drone on forever about all of the lies we are fed each and every day. Do not ever be fooled into thinking that there isn't magic in our everyday. Don't get sucked into thinking that "everydayness" is meaningless. That you have to go on these big adventures and do something amazing for your day to be worth something.

That. Is. Simply. Not. True.

There's plenty of magic and goodness in the every day, we just have to choose to see it...and honestly, the camera makes this so easy to see- we see the pictures from our morning and think to ourselves, how did I not see this before?! This is us? Truly??

From the way you prepare breakfast (or if the kids make it themselves), to how you spend your morning (is it full speed and a little chaotic? is it quiet and calm? or do you just never know what you're going to get?), to how you get ready for the day- it's all very unique to your family. It's meaningful.

A forgotten bowl of cereal set down in the crib, next to where he changed his newborn son. If this isn't an artful portrait of the newborn stage, I don't know what is.

So... here's what I want you to do:

I want you to take notice of your mornings. I want you to really see it, beyond the surface. I want you to look closely at what's really going on.

Look for those moments that are meaningful and honest and good and true. Because I can guarantee you, that even in the hard moments (and God knows we all have them- no one is perfect!) there are slivers of light. And at the root of it all is love.

Make a list of the good things in your morning. Make note of the things that happen, what you enjoy.

I just want you to push pause for a little bit and then marinate on it a bit.

Then come back here and let's talk about what you found, okay?
