It's always a good day for a homecoming
This sweet mama reached out to me to document one of life's greatest moments- a homecoming. After many, many months of being separated the end was finally in sight and it was time to start planning a celebration.
And let me tell you, there's nothing quite like a homecoming celebration.
It was time for this family of 5 to be whole again.
It was time for this father to hold his little curly headed girls again. It was time for him to kiss his wife again. It was time to sleep in his own bed, in the comfort of his own home. It was time for that mama to release that breath she'd been holding for so long and breathe in the relief that comes with knowing that he's finally home.
It's really hard to put into words the feelings of being there, but I have experienced it on both sides. I've been at many homecomings for my own little family, I've been present at many other family's homecomings to document their day, and I've been there when my dearest cousin came home from Iraq.
But, I'm not a writer who can string together words to create eloquent prose that stirs your soul and makes you feel like you are there in the midst...but I am a visual storyteller. So, I'll just let the photos do the talking.
