"It's not always rainbows and butterflies, but they get along for the most part. A beautifully blended hot mess." That's what this mama said to me when I delivered their Family Storytelling Session sneak peek to them. And if you're asking me, I thought that was one of the most beautifully honest things I have ever heard. Have you ever met and come across people that instantly put you in a better mood? Those people who have an absolutely infectious smile? This entire family is like that. How perfectly lovely is that? This world needs more of that. I'm forever grateful our paths crossed. With being fairly new to the area, they asked me to come along as they explored a local nature preserve together. (If you've been here a while, you know my answer to anything outside is always yes.) The occasion? Big brother was home visiting from college to celebrate his dad's birthday. A worthy reason for family pictures, don't you think? During the last part of their session, the part I normally reserve for a few loosely posed photos, I told the kids to get together and they surprised me by doing a football team style "huddle". Of course, I snapped away, as you can imagine. But what I didn't know was the significance of that huddle. They all did the same thing together at the altar when their parents got married. They were a team, they solidified their own bond, they became a family- together. Are your eyes a little weepy yet? Mine are. We stayed until it was completely dark and we enjoyed every last minute of the sunset. I even got a few blue hour shots, which I love.
To schedule your own Family Storytelling Session, send me a message here and let's talk about what's important to you and what you want to remember.
